Established in 2015, ABHR_A is a London based architectural practice led by principals Alex Bilton and Helen Reid.

Every project is unique. We always look for something inspiring from the outset to create a beautiful, stand-alone design. We specialise in high quality architecture and have developed our approach to ensure that each design reflects the individual client and context of each project.

We enjoy producing original solutions and take a visual approach to explaining our designs to clients by using the latest in computer visualisations to convey our ideas. We are experts at extracting the best out of each project and many of our projects have been delivered in constrained urban sites. Our homes are carefully planned and intricately detailed.

ABHRA was founded in 2015 by Alex Bilton and Helen Reid, ABHRA brings together combined expertise of the partners from 20 years’ experience of delivering award-winning projects across London and the south east. We are a RIBA Chartered Practice.

Expertise and Experience

The founding partners, Alex Bilton and Helen Reid, bring over 20 years of combined expertise to ABHRA. Both are RIBA Chartered Architects, with Alex holding degrees from the University of Brighton and the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL. Before founding ABHRA, Alex honed his skills at Zaha Hadid Architects, where he contributed to several award-winning projects, including the prestigious London Aquatics Centre.

Helen, also a distinguished architect, studied at the University of Manchester and the Bartlett School of Architecture. Prior to co-founding ABHRA, she worked with Hayhurst and Co. and is currently an Associate with Pitman Tozer Architects. Her experience includes a variety of notable projects, such as the Craig Park Youth Centre, which won the AJ Retrofit Award.

We have been collaborating with ABHR_A for the last 18 months on various projects. Alex and Helen are experienced Architects. Their diverse skill sets complement each other very well, and they are able to offer a comprehensive and well rounded package. They both care a great deal about delivering thoughtful and stimulating designs, which are always unique to the specific client and project. ABHR_A have been excellent to work with on our rear extension. They listened carefully to our brief, delivered exciting and innovative ideas and have managed the process perfectly on our behalf. The build starts shortly and they will be with us throughout overseeing the project. Alex and Helen make a great team, they are professional, creative, highly efficient and I would strongly recommend them.
Alex and Helen helped us with a renovation project, and we really enjoyed working with them. Their biggest expertise is in architecture and interior design, and we are very happy with the project they designed for us. They understood our requirements very well, suggested great materials and color palette. We almost never needed to change design decisions that they made, and we felt that we could trust their taste. Even though the original project they designed was above our budget, they suggested a list of adjustments that could decrease the price, which we discussed and implemented. We are pretty happy with our communication with them. They have been preparing detailed reports after every visit to the site, keeping track of raised issues and work valuation. If we were to start another project anytime soon, we would definitely seek their services again.
ABHR_A was recommended to us by a friend, and we've been delighted with the results. We asked them to help us work on a garage conversion and roof replacement - we live in a conservation area with very specific planning rules. They helped us consider ideas and ways that we could transform the space. Alex was very thorough in his work, and communicated regular updates to us. I'm currently working with ABHRA on a residential project in London and I'd recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their home. They are incredibly professional, not only their drawings are some of the most precise I saw out there, but they also act impeccably when it comes to contract administration
I had the chance to work on this project both filming and shooting the newly designed property in Wimbledon. The interior is a high end quality and very bright and spacious. Was a pleasure shooting the photos and the video and I also believe the result speaks for itself. Looking forward to working with ABHR_A team again in the near future. We used Alex and Helen from ABHR_A when we wanted to redesign our flat. We were looking to extend the kitchen and bathroom and make much better use of the space we have. Both Alex and Helen were excellent to work with. They are extremely talented architects with backgrounds at high end firms and their experience showed. They were able to help us by suggesting ideas, explaining what would and wouldn’t work, and how best to do things. The final product is amazing and the space is so big and well thought out. They designed a series of built in cupboards and shelves which look fantastic and really complete the design. We are extremely pleased with the outcome. Alex and Helen were great to work with, really understood what we were trying to do and helped us hugely with our project. Their drawings were excellent, so much so that our builder commented that they were the best he’d ever had for a residential project and made his life much easier! We would throughly recommend them.
